When I click on my file, it doesn’t open in Adobe Acrobat Reader.
You probably have the default viewer for PDF files set to another program. You will need to reset that to

The fonts in my file look weird/have weird symbols instead of letters.
Either you’re trying to open the file using something other than Adobe Acrobat Reader, or you are using an older version of Adobe Acrobat Reader. Update Adobe Acrobat Reader here: https://get.adobe.com/reader/
